With the increase in pollution and a rising concern over it globally, many automobile manufacturers have started to focus on electric vehicles. Moreover, one can also see a surge in the number of new electric automobile manufacturers in recent times, both internationally and in India. Tork Motor, which is based out of Pune, is one such manufacturer. The home-grown startup has done extensive research and development over seven years to come up with the ‘T6X’. The motorcycle is easily India’s first electric motorcycle that is a big step in solving the future mobility problems in the urban areas of the country.

The looks of the T6X are no different than an internal combustion motorcycle, well, at least at the first glance. However, observe the details for a while and you are sure to admire its futuristic styling and edgy design.
Since the bike is an all-electric machine, the motor is the only moving part it has, unlike a motorcycle using internal combustion engine. Tork claims that this helps the bike in achieving exceptional NVH level and hence, it will be less tiring to ride. Also, it offers the benefit of less amount of wear and tear when compared to its petrol powered counterparts over a same period of time.

The T6X’s electric motor draws its power from a lithium-ion battery stack. The fact that it can also reach a top speed of 100kmph probably makes it the fastest electric two-wheeler of India. Moreover, the battery pack can last for 100km on one full charge, which is not bad for a start. Moreover, the T6X’s battery has been claimed to offer a life between 80,000 to 1,00,000 km.

Unveiling the Tork T6X, Kapil Shelke, founder and director, Tork Motors Pvt Ltd said, “Investments in smart technology, our racing pedigree and experience with electric vehicles has enabled us to refine and enhance our overall value proposition with the T6X. T6X drive train has been designed to perfection that will feature 27NM of torque, weighs less than 130 kgs coupled with tailor-made components to appeal to the urban design sensibilities while delivering the sheer thrill of driving. Powering the T6X is our signature TIROS intelligence system which will enable the rider to easily switch between customisable ride modes adjusting power delivery. The motorcycle can be tuned anywhere from sporty maverick to comfortable eco-cruiser at the touch of a button. TIROS also updates and incorporates new features automatically via the cloud, making the Tork T6X truly the smartest motorcycle on the road.”

The list of the features on the Tork T6X includes an onboard navigation system, storage space, cloud connectivity and a fully digital display. Moreover, one cam communicates with the bike via installing the company’s app on his/her smartphone and get updates about the vehicle’s health, range and service alerts, and also customise riding profiles. It gets the company’s tested TIROS (Tork Intuitive Response Operating System) to perfectly manage the power of the motorcycle. The T6X also gets many safety features to make your ride trouble free, such as ABS, CDS, anti-theft, geo-fencing and Daytime Running Lamp (DRL).

In the first phase, Tork will introduce the T6X in the Pune, Bangalore and Delhi and it will be available for booking with three colour options. Apart from introducing the bike with a very lucrative price tag of Rs 1.25 lakh, the company is also planning to set up several charging stations to pump-up the electronic vehicle market in India. In the way towards building a robust charging infrastructure, the company has already installed six charging points in Pune and aims to take the count to 100 by the end of 2017. (Agencies)
