Nagaland police on Monday brought animal activist, Hema Choudhury to the State from Mumbai where she was arrested by a team of State police in coordination with Mumbai police on July 17 in connection with a non-bailable warrant of arrest issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kohima.
The accused was brought to Nagaland from Mumbai via Delhi and Imphal on July 20, said a press release issued by the PRO Nagaland Police.
On reaching Kohima, Chowdhary along with other police officials who had accompanied her were taken straight to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) where a team of doctors and nurses conducted tests for COVID-19 and other necessary medical formalities. The swab test result is expected to be out by July 21.
Chowdhary is likely to be kept at Thizama 4th NAP camp where the interrogation will be held.
It was learnt that Hema allegedly tried to jump-off while in the lock-up in Mumbai and sprained her ankle and injured her wrist. This was the reason why she was brought in a wheelchair.
The PRO Nagaland Police informed that all standard operating protocols as per the guidelines issued by the State Health & Family Welfare Department relating to COVID-19 were adhered to while bringing her to the State.
