Starting 26 December, 2020, Indigo Airlines will operate direct flights from Dimapur to New Delhi.
According to Indigo’s website, the first non-stop flight will leave Dimapur Airport on December 26 at 2:35 pm and arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi at 5:35 PM, signifying a travel time of exactly three hours.
Technically, however, the first direct flight will be from New Delhi on the same day with an Indigo Airbus A320 flight taking off from IGI at 11:30 pm.
It is expected to reach the Dimapur Airport at 2:05 pm denoting just 2 hours and 35 minutes travel time, The Morung Express reported.
Booking information on the Indigo website informed that the direct flight will be operated thrice a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer, IndiGo said, “Being the airline with the most connections from the North-eastern states to the entire country, we take immense pleasure in slowly and steadily getting back to the recovery path on the back of strengthening confidence in air travel. We are providing nonstop connectivity to our customers from Northeast to key metro cities, catering to the increasing demand for direct flights owing to the pandemic.”
This is a major relief for travellers as earlier, passengers travelling to Delhi had to take connecting flights from Kolkata.
