MLA and Advisor, IPR, Government of Nagaland Toshi Wungtung passed away on Thursday in New Delhi, where he was undergoing treatment for Covid-19-related health complications, the Hindustan Times has reported.
The MLA from Shamator-Chessore constituency in Tuensang district was 57.
He was stated to have tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nagaland earlier in June.
However, with the development of several underlying health complications, he was airlifted to Delhi later and was undergoing treatment at BLK hospital, New Delhi.
Wungtung is the second MLA from Nagaland to succumb from Covid-19. In 2020, senior Nagaland minister CM Chang passed away due to COVID-19 in Kohima.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio shared his condolences on Twitter.
