One month of lockdown seemed like One year!
After the lockdown was relaxed a bit after three weeks of strict lockdown – vegetable vendors, pharmacies and grocery shops were open throughout the town. Vehicle movement was also relaxed to some extent.
We decided to take a little drive around main town to get some groceries and have a feel of the pulse…
Well, Big Bazar with its half shut shutter looks like – its wants to open…BUT….can’t open ho! We hardly see Popular Bakery CLOSED. Even on Sundays we are used to seeing it open. Well, they may be thinking “lets take some rest, we have been working too hard for the last 30 years!” NL Road – the epicenter of traffic jams – on a NORMAL day. These are abnormal days! SOCIAL DISTANCING gone horribly wrong at the popular chemist shops at NL road. Entry to Dimapur’s sabzi mandi at Murgi patti is shut down. The FEMALE IRBs seem to be at work. Where are the boys? Nagaland’s only quarantine zone (as on date). Dimapur railway station – the second most revenue generating station in North East – comes to a HALT! Suddenly, we see VEGETABLES everywhere in Dimapur. Thankfully BANKS are open. Good to see organized social distancing measures. Scene at a butchers shop. Did someone say SOCIAL DISTANCING? Some experts were right – it should not be social distancing – it should be PHYSICAL DISTANCING! No wonder the public is confused. Corona or No Corona – our jawans are always on the move! TRAFFIC JAM during Lockdown?! The restless people at Khermahal traffic point seem to be waiting for something to happen..
