The Jio effect has once again hit the telecom market. As Reliance Jio rolled out the Dhan Dhana Dhan offer which is essentially the same plan as Summer Surprise, the incumbent telcos are countering it by launching new tariffs and plans.
Mukesh Ambani -owned Reliance Jio recently announced new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer which it calls its new ‘all unlimited’ plan offering free unlimited SMS, voice calling and data with 1GB 4G capping per day for 84 days on first recharge. The plan starts at Rs 309 and the data will be less for subsequent recharges. So don’t expect 84 GB data 4G data for every time you recharge.
The company also announced that it was finally pulling the plug on its Summer Surprise offer following the TRAI advisory. Jio has introduced two types of plans under its new offer — one for Prime members and the other for non-prime members.
The announcement has heated up the price war once again pushing its rival companies to launch slew of new plans and tariffs to woo subscribers. Here are the new plans offered by the these companies to match up with Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. Please note that some of these offers may not be available for all. Many a times, telecom companies launch these offers but do not put the details of these plans on their official sites. Users are informed of these plans through SMS and not everyone receive these messages.
1. Airtel’s Rs 399 plan: A recent tweet by famous telecom blogger Sanjay Bafna suggests that Airtel may be working on a new Rs 399 plan for its prepaid users. Apparently, user will get 1GB 4G data per day along with unlimited calls for 70 days under this offer. This means 70GB 4G data for 70 days. These plans may only be available for Airtel 4G users only. According to the tweets, Airtel will launch two prepaid plans as a counter to Jio’s new 1GB and 2GB data plans under Dhan Dhana Dhan.
2. Idea’s Rs 297 & Rs 447 plan: Idea which is India’s third largest telecom operator after Airtel and Vodafone has also come up with new plans to counter Jio. It has announced two plans of Rs 297 and Rs 447 for select prepaid users. While Rs 297 plan will offer unlimited Idea to Idea local and STD along with 1GB of 4G data per day for 70 days, the Rs 447 plan will get users unlimited calls to any network across the country along with 1GB of 4G data per day for 70 days. According to a Telecom Talk report, the Rs 297 plan will offer voice calls for 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week and Rs 447 plan will allows voice calls to 3000 minutes for 70 days. Also, users will be charged at 30 paise per minute once the data limit is exhausted.
3. BSNL’s Rs 249 pack: State-owned telecom operator BSNL which had said that it would match Jio tariff- by- tariff has also come in action after the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan launch. It recently announced Rs 249 plan that will offer 300GB data per month. The offer is available only for new subscribers. Reportedly, BSNL has launched this plan only for six months after which it will increase plan’s tariff to Rs 499.
4. Vodafone free 4GB data: Vodafone on Tuesday announced a new 4GB free 4G data offer to match against Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. The offer is available across 14 Vodafone circles in India. Under this offer, users users get 4GB of 4G data on 4G handsets if they upgrade their existing Vodafone SIM to company’s SuperNet 4G network. The pack validity for prepaid users is for 10 days while postpaid users get the validity till the next billing date of their connection. (Agencies)
