SC Jamir suffers heart attack

This Diwali is certainly not good for Odisha Governor SC Jamir as he has been admitted to hospital here after he suffered a heart attack.

The 86-year-old Jamir was admitted to Apollo Hospital today after he complained chest pain, hospital sources said.

“He (Jamir) was hospitalized with severe chest pain due to a mild heart attack. Though his condition is stable now but will be kept under observation for some time,” said Apollo Cardiology Department Head Dr Prasant Kumar Sahoo.

He will be discharged tomorrow if his condition improves, the doctor added.

Jamir, a five-time Chief Minister of Nagaland, has  has assumed the office of Governor in Odisha on March 2013.

Considered as an architect of modern Nagaland, Jamir had also served as the Governor of Maharashtra and Goa.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Jamir in the hospital and wished for speedy recovery.- Agencies
