ST students fare poorly in NEET

Students from SC-ST category fared poorly in the recently concluded National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). No student from the scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) categories featured in the top 50 this year. In terms of pass percentages, candidates from the two categories lagged behind the national average and that of unreserved students.

For STs, the success rate was 40.9%.

Some leaders of political leaders said the NEET question paper is based on the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus, which is found to be difficult by students of the state board.

Scheduled Tribe (ST) need 40th Percentile to qualify NEET. The minimum qualifying percentile of NEET cut off implies the cut off required to be considered eligible for the admission process.
