8 doctors in Delhi infected with Coronavirus

The Centre and the Delhi government accelerated efforts to increase the supplies of medical equipment as reports of doctors and medics getting infected with Coronavirus surfaced.

A resident doctor from Delhi’s prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences has tested positive for coronavirus, sources said. His wife, also a doctor at AIIMS who is 9 months’ pregnant, also tested positive. With this, eight doctors in Delhi have contracted the highly contagious virus.

The Union Health Ministry said it was ensuring an upgrade in the domestic manufacturing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enhancement of supplies to the states.

Earlier CM Arvind Kejriwal announced Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of health workers in the event that they die in the line of duty.

The fear of catching COVID-19 infection is growing in the fraternity of doctors and nurses, across the nation.
