COVID-19: North East tally climbs to 52

Strict curfew imposed in Shillong

Cases of Coronavirus in northeast emerged very late compared to the rest of the country as the first infection was reported towards the end of March. By then most of the Northeast states were put on an alert and had started taking all necessary precautions.

As on 24 April, Assam recorded the highest number of cases – 36, followed by Meghalaya at 12.

Sikkim is the only state in India which has not reported even a single COVID19 positive case.

Nagaland had earlier reported a positive case but the patient has been shifted to Assam.
