BJP state unit president Visasolie Lhounghu said that BJP will start issuing party ticket to candidates for Nagaland assembly polls from Thursday onwards.
Following pressure from the Central leadership, the state unit backed out of the joint declaration and suspended executive council member Kheto Sema who signed the declaration on behalf of the party.
There is message circulated in whatsAPP from Visasolie Lhounghu, “it has assured that it will refrain from issuing ticket even if Central command directs us to do so. We will have an emergency meeting of party officer bearers and would convey our decision before 12 noon January 31, 2018.”
Visasolie denied writing any such letter and said, ” We will issue party tickets from Thursday on wards.”
CCNTHCO members on Wednesday met full bench of Election commission in New Delhi. Convenor of CCNTHCO, Theja Therieh, “The commission stated that they respect our sentiments however as notification is issued they cannot do anything about it.” He said that, “Now it is up to government of India to take a call. Presently there is a stalemate.”
Meanwhile NNPGs Working Committee has said that in order to safeguard the decision and interest of the Naga people, any intending candidate who goes against the wishes of the people and files nomination shall be held accountable, besides being branded as anti-Naga and a traitor. (Agencies)
