The new normal – Football matches without fans

A match in Europe being played in an empty stadium

Many top soccer leagues including La Liga will be played without fans, in empty stadiums and behind closed doors until next year because of the coronavirus pandemic, reports ESPN.

The report claims La Liga clubs have already been told of the decision and that stadiums will only reopen “under strict safety measures” from January 2021.

Players will also undergo “daily serology antibody tests” and any positive tests will means the player has to be isolated.

Barcelona players and staff will undergo the first tests. They will be tested without having to get out of their cars and will then go straight home.

All upcoming professional football matches in Spain, France and Portugal, as well as some in Germany and a European Championship qualifying match in Slovakia, will be played in empty stadiums.
