Indian boxer from Assam Lovlina Borgohain defeated N.C. Chen of Chinese Taipei in Quater-finals of women’s Welter (64-69kg) event and booked a place in the Semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Indian boxer, with the height advantage, landed crucial blows and won the bout convincingly 4-1.
With this win, Lovlina is guaranteed of a medal. The semi-finalists are assured of at least a bronze in the sport at the Games.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was delighted with Lovlina’s performance.
