Dr. Shürho to be CM only for few months

During the NPF legislature party meeting on Monday in Kohima incumbent Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu raised some eyeballs by stating that he will be in office only for a few months.

There could be two reasons for this. Firstly, his age is catching up and he would like younger blood to be at the helm of affairs.

Secondly, since he is not a sitting MLA, it is mandatory for him contest election within 6 months and win to continue as Chief Minister.

At his age, he may not be in the mood to enter electoral politics. One will remember that Dr. Shürho did not contest the 2013 state elections paving the way for his son Khriehu Liezietsu to become an MLA in his constituency.

Now, the question arises – who will become the CM after Dr. Shürho vacates his chair and is such instability good for NPF keeping in mind the nearing state general elections?
