During the past few days, the northeastern states of the country have been witnessing comfortable days with cold nights. In fact, moderate with isolated dense fog was also witnessed over most places of the region.
However, the weather continued to be dry as there was no major weather system to affect the area in terms of rain.
Now, a trough of low is extending from west central up to Northeast Bay of Bengal. In wake of this weather system, scattered rains are likely to occur over Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today.
The state of Nagaland will also witness partly cloudy sky condition. Rains will commence over the state around January 2 and 3. Most places of the state such as Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Kohima and Dimapur are anticipated to record scattered showers.
By January 4, the weather system is expected to dissipate, thus the weather will go dry over most of these states. Maximum temperatures will again start rising and the sky would become clear.
It is predicted that moderate fog would prevail during the morning hours over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. (Sky Met Weather)
