Late Kevi Zakiesatuo’s wife, daughters detained by police

In a major twist to the murder of Kevi Zakiesatuo, four people have been detained by the police. Sources said that four close family members of the victim were detained on suspicion.

The four – the victim’s wife and their three daughters, were taken into police custody on the morning of December 22 for interrogation, the sources disclosed. While it was not officially confirmed, the sources added that the four were further remanded to police custody.

The Dimapur police on Sunday declined to make any official comment on the investigation or on the detainment of suspects.

A prominent citizen of Dimapur and a former electoral contender, Zakiesatuo’s dead body was found under mysterious circumstances on December 18 at his residential compound located in Golaghat Road, Dimapur. As per the police, the body was found with the hands and feet tied and mouth taped. The victim bore blunt trauma on the back of the head, which the police suspected caused death.

A murder case was registered the same day and the Commissioner of Police constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the case. Post-mortem was conducted the same day but the police said that it will likely take some days for the report to return. The police have so far remained tight-lipped on the progress of the investigation. (Morung Express)
