PDA reshuffle: Patton gets R&B, Tongpang gets Housing & Mech

The BJP is known to get what it wants when it comes to the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) govt in Nagaland. This has been reflected in the recent reshuffle of the PDA ministry.

As expected, the Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton was allotted the plump portfolio of Roads and Bridges, to go along with Home department. In turn, the former Roads and Bridges Minister Tongpang Ozukum was assigned as the Minister of Housing and Mechanical.

Cabinet Minister Metsubo Jamir’s charge was reversed: from Urban to Rural Development. Dr. Neikiesalie Kire was named as the Advisor to Urban Development and Municipal Affairs

The president of Nagaland BJP unit, Temjen Imna Along—besides his incumbent Higher and Technical Education charge—was named as the minister of Tribal Affairs too hinting to a new department of Tribal affairs in the state.

(Former) Deputy Speaker Zhaleo Rio has been named as Advisor to Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs. His replacement was, however, not listed in the order.

Industry and Commerce advisor Imnatiba who recently joined NDPP got additional charge of Skill development department.
