Kronu, who is one of the two government spokespersons on issues concerning the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), informed that there were 2719 persons under home quarantine, and four under facility quarantine, in Nagaland as of 5 pm on March 27.
He said that Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom held a video conference on Friday with the chief medical officers and medical superintendents of all the districts to review the state’s preparedness against Covid-19.
Kronu stated that all efforts are being made to expedite delivery of essential medical equipment and accessories, including airlifting of consignments with the help of the government of India.
He assured the public that essential goods and commodities will continue to be available as normal. Stating that the lockdown measures may be creating difficulties and hardships, he reiterated that it was vital for preventing the novel coronavirus from spreading further.
According to the minister, citizens of Nagaland stranded in other states have been reaching out to the state government for help. ‘Suitable and prompt actions, in coordination with the administration and police authorities of those states, are being taken to sort out such problems,’ he informed.
Kronu also informed that the 24×7 state-level control room during Covid-19 lockdown has been functioning since March 25; citizens can contact the numbers 0370-2291122 and 0370-2291120 for any grievances related to availability (or non-availability) of essential commodities, goods and services, transport well as any other issue arising due to the lockdown.
