Home Dept. advises churches not to organize religious congregation

In an order released on 31 March 2020 by Abhijit Sinha IAS, Principal secretary – Home department, Govt of Nagaland, advised all churches to refrain from holding any religious congregation during the lockdown period.

The order advisory read “During this period, all kinds of gatherings are barred, including religious congregations as such mass gatherings have the potential of easily allowing the spread of the virus, thereby putting the lives of many people in serious danger”

It may be mentioned that many churches have gone online on Facebook and Youtube to conduct Sunday service.

This order comes in the backdrop of reports from that over 1,000 people have been evacuated from a centre in Nizamuddin West in Delhi till Tuesday morning, amid a novel coronavirus scare at a centre where a religious conference had attracted participation of people from several States. A total of 24 people from the centre have tested positive for COVID-19.
