Total Lockdown in Dimapur extended till April 5

Commissioner of Police (CP) and district magistrate Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, Thursday promulgated and further extend the prohibitory order for total restriction of movement for general public and vehicles in Dimapur district with effect from 12 midnight of April 3, 2020 to 12 midnight of April 5, 2020.

In an order, district magistrate, however, stated that the movement of officials/ staff of departments of police, army, para military forces, magistrates/ district administration, doctors/medical staff/ chemist/pharmacist, media, DMC & sanitation, treasury, banks, power, PHED, IOC, FCI, food & civil supply, Airport/ Railway Staff and Telecom/ Pvt Internet Service Provider in discharge of official duty and vehicles transporting essential commodities would be exempted.

The district magistrate cautioned that violation of the order would be liable for punitive punishment under section 188 of the IPC.

DC extends closure: The deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi, also extend the prohibitory order directing all shops, commercial and private establishments to further remain closed from the midnight of April 3, 2020 till midnight of April 5, 2020.

In an order, the DC stated that containment measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus would remain in force in all parts of Dimapur district.

DC, however, stated that police, army, para-military forces, magistrate on duty, doctors and medical staff including private hospitals & clinics, medicine wholesalers & retail pharmacies, bank staff and persons engaged in emergency services were exempted.

The order warned that any person violating containment measures would be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under section 188 of the IPC.
