8000 people expected to return to Dimapur

The state government will be facing a unique and difficult task in the coming weeks. With central government relaxing norms to allow stranded citizens to return to their homes, Dimapur – Nagaland’s commercial hub is expecting about 8,000 people to return back.

The state government is trying to find ways and means to accommodate this large number. On 12 May, Nagaland government has requested private schools and colleges authorities to provide their hostels to be used as quarantine centres.

As per DIPR report, Y Kikheto Sema IAS, in charge of Dimapur district for Covid-19 said that the government facilities will not be able to accommodate all the returnees and appealed to private schools and colleges to come into the rescue by providing their hostels to be used as quarantine centres he assured that all necessary requirements will be looked after by the government.

Mr. Sema informed that proper medical screening will be done upon their arrival and suspected Covid-19 positive people will be kept at the isolation wards.

Presidents of All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association and All Nagaland Private Colleges’ Association were nominated as members of core committee.
