National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today announced Medo Yhokha as its candidate for the bye-election to 14-Southern Angami-I Constituency.
Yhokha, a former PRO to the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Vikho-o Yhoshu, was felicitated at the ticket ceremony at NDPP Office in Kohima in the presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton, State BJP President Temjen Imna Along and NDPP president Chingwang Konyak.
Speaking at the event, CM Rio said the 5 people who vied for NDPP ticket were equally capable. It is not an easy job when you have so many children, the CM said while appealing to those who did not get the ticket to please remain with the party and bide for their own time.
Minister of Higher & Technical Education Along said NDPP candidate Yhokha is a very recognisable person and has a winning candidate’s face. He said “I can only appeal to all the NDPP ‘karyakartas’ and workers and also the few BJP workers that are there in the Southern Angami region to work together for a decisive victory.”
Along also said that many speeches can be given but if the workers do not work hard it will be futile. He also appealed that PDA alliance members have to work collectively and exclusively without taking the personal ego into the forefront. “Efforts of the workers is key to securing the win for the NDPP and the BJP candidate”, Along added.
Advisor to CM and Secretary General of NDPP, Abu Metha said the PDA coalition is a unique political arrangement as far as the political journey of Nagaland is concerned.” He said the pre-poll alliance with a seat sharing formula between NDPP and BJP is the very basis for strengthening the alliance for collective teamwork.
Deputy CM Patton said the NDPP has chosen a bright candidate with experience and requested all NDPP workers and BJP ‘Kayarkartas’ to work wholeheartedly toward the bye-election while keeping the spirit of the pre-poll agreement in mind.
NDPP candidate for the 14-Southern Angami-I Assembly Constituency Medo Yhokha expressed his genuine and heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for giving him the opportunity to contest as the official PDA candidate.
