Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Medo Yhokha won the bye-polls to 14 Southern Angami-I Assembly constituency.
Yhokha defeated his nearest rival, Independent candidate Seyievilie Peter Zashumo by 598 votes.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has congratulated Yhokha on winning the Southern Angami seat.
“Heartiest congratulations to NDPP candidate Medo Yhokha on winning 14 Southern Angami 1 by-election. I wish you all the best in serving the people of Nagaland,” Rio tweeted after the results were declared.
The bye polls were necessitated after the death of Southern Angami-I constituency legislator of NDPP Vikho-o Yhoshü.
