The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Nagaland today staged protest against growing unemployment problem in Dimapur.
Displaying a unique way of protest, members of the students union dressed in graduation gowns and caps, fried pakoras in full view of the public at the Super market area in Dimapur.
The idea of frying pakoras and staging the protest comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier statement that people can earn money even by selling pakoras and get themselves self-employed.
NSUI Nagaland president, Chopika said unemployment has increased so high that it has gone all time high in the last 45 years. “Last year itself during the pandemic, it was almost 12.5 crores loss. Government has made so many promises for giving employment to the youths. It is not possible for the government to give jobs to everyone…and even we the students, youths do not demand jobs for everyone but the existing jobs have been lost.”
He said today’s protest against unemployment in the country is an initiative of the NSUI and this campaign was launched last month on the slogan, “Naukri do, ya degree waapas lo”. (Inputs from Nagaland Page)
