“Be prepared as lockdown may be extended”: Rio

Addressing citizens of the State virtually on Tuesday, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio remarked “We should be prepared that the lockdown may even need to be extended if the situation requires”.

As the State grapples to break the chain of Covid infection, Rio hinted that the current total lockdown, which was to end on May 21, in the State could be extended, if the situation demanded.

Admitting that the current total lockdown had created great inconvenience to the people, he, however, pointed out that the extraordinary scenario demanded it so.

He called upon the people to be extra cautious and be extremely vigilant so that the virus did not spread to rural areas, which could have far-reaching consequences.

“Weeks and months ahead may be very difficult with greater challenges,” he commented.

Meanwhile, the Ao Seden has appealed to the government to extend the ongoing lockdown till situation returns to normalcy.
