Pangti village in Wokha district Nagaland has become a bird watchers’ paradise again as thousands of amur falcons arrived at the roosting site near the picturesque Doyang dam.

It is estimated that the number of birds which had started arriving in October first week has increased to about 60,000.

The Amur Falcons come to Pangti village where they roost to regain their stamina, before they continue their long journey across the Arabian Sea to their final destination in Africa.

Tourists have started arriving from different parts of India to have a glimpse of the majestic raptor.

It may be mentioned that the radio tagged amur falcon named ‘Longleng’ (named after one of the districts of Nagaland) holds the world record for clocking 1,50,000 Kms in 4 four years of its tracking.
