Nagaland PCC today demanded setting up of an inquiry committee to verify the educational qualification of Chief Minister T R Zeliang alleging that those furnished by him were false.
NPCC working president P Ayang Aonok in a memorandum to Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya alleged that Zeliang ad furnished false information in the affidavit in Form-26 that he had passed Bachelor of Arts in 1980 while filing his nomination paper before the returning officer for election to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Peren (ST) assembly constituency.
Zeliang had said in his nomination that he had passed BA from Kohima College under North Eastern Hill University in 1980.
NPCC had, however, through an RTI found that Zeliang had appeared for BA examination from the college in 1979 but failed. He did not appear for the examination in 1980.
It therefore demanded that the Governor set up an inquiry committee immediately to verify the affidavit submitted by Zeliang in Form-26 and other relevant documents.
It also requested that the report be made known to all in the larger interest.
