John Longkumer resigns as Nagaland DGP

Nagaland Director General of Police T. John Longkumer has tendered his resignation which has been accepted by the state cabinet. This was disclosed by Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu today.

When asked by media persons Mr Kronu said that the senior most IPS officer in the state will be the next DGP.

The seniormost IPS officer in Nagaland Sunil Acharya whose name was recommended in a panel for the post of Director General of Police, Nagaland, has declined to be considered for the post. This was stated in a letter, issued on November 1, by the Under Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland.

This leaves Rupin Sharma as the only other IPS officer in the state who has completed 30 years of service to be considered for the top job.
