Moatoshi gains momentum in Dimapur II

2 Dimapur II A/C is one of the prestigious seats in Nagaland which covers important parts of Dimapur with over 50,000 electors.

In the last general elections in 2018 there was a triangular contest where sitting MLA Moatoshi Longkumer, contesting on a NPF ticket won the seat with a vote percentage of 58%. Supu Jamir who contested as an NDPP candidate gave a good fight and got about 40% vote share.

Fast forward to 2023. As Supu Jamir withdraws his nomination and joins hands with Moatoshi who got the coveted NDPP ticket, the chance of the sitting MLA winning the seat had been boosted.

The 2023 election in this constituency will see a triangular contest again with INC’s Amento Chishi, LJP’s Vikheho Awomi and NDPP’s Moatoshi Longkumer.

Speaking to media, after a thanksgiving programme on Friday, Moatoshi said the withdrawal of Supu was not done on the basis of tribal line but was an “understanding” between the two candidates, to which Supu agreed.
