Much hula-gula about reconciliation in the Naga People’s Front party has gone down the drain. After senior party legislator Imkong L Imchen was expelled from the party. Now, it seems is veteran politician Neiphiu Rio’s turn.

As per reports Rio has been served a show cause notice by the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of NPF after it “received numerous complaints from various corners”.

Clearly the wounds resulted from the fight between the two camps has not healed and forgotten.

Rio has been accused of:
1. Being instrumental in lodging complaints before judicial magistrate against the Chief Minister.

2. Violation of party constitutional provision by abstaining from party meeting four consecutive times.

3. Initiating every steps to topple the present government and campaigning maliciously against the party president recently even after party reconciliation.

As per reports, Rio has replied to the show cause notice.

Rio has been eyeing a berth in the cabinet during the mid term reshuffle of central ministers in the Modi Government. With this move my the NPF party, Rio’s chances of induction in Modi Government looks slim.

With many heavy weights in the Rio camp and state elections drawing near, one can expect to see a multi cornered political fight during the next general elections.
