The state Health and Family Welfare department has announced that the first phase of COIVID-19 vaccination is likely to be rolled out within this month.
Addressing a press conference in the HFW Directorate here, Mission Director of National Health Mission Nagaland, Dr Kevichusa Medikhru said that State-level training of trainers for COVID-19 vaccination has already been completed while the district-level training would be completed before Christmas.
Dr Medikhru said that the first phase of vaccination, which is likely to be rolled out within this month, would be for health workers in health facilities directly dealing with the patients, while the second phase would be for COVID-19 frontline workers, third phase for people above 50 years of age and the fourth phase would be for persons with co-morbidities.
Asked why children have been left out from the vaccination process, the Mission Director said that it has been observed the children and people below 50 years have high resistant power and therefore this time they have not been included but the call for their vaccination would be taken in due course of time.
For the first phase, State Immunization Officer Dr Ritu Thurr, informed that a total of 19,654 frontline workers have been identified for vaccination while data collection for other phases are yet to start. (Nagaland Page)
