BS4 cars and bikes that were sold before March 31, but could not be registered as a result of the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic can now be registered, the Supreme Court has ruled.
According to reports, the SC has allowed the registration BS4 vehicles sold in March. However, the court noted that only those vehicles will be eligible for registration which were sold before the lockdown and details of which were uploaded on the government’s Vahan portal.
This effectively includes only those BS4 vehicles which were sold in India before 25 March i.e. when the nationwide lockdown came into effect. As a result around 39,000 BS4 vehicles sold after that will not be eligible for registration, as reported by Times Now.
It said that as per details available on Vahan, a total of 9,56,015 BS4 vehicles were sold from March 12 and March 31 this year while 9,01,223 were registered.
