The former chief secretary of Nagaland and the working president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Alemtemshi Jamir has been projected as the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the coming assembly elections.
This was announced on Thursday during the opening programme of Highway Area Sumi Student’s Union (HASSU) 25th year celebrations by the chairman for the jubilee planning board, Toiho Yeptho who is also a member of the NDPP.
He declared the former chief secretary to be a candidate in the running to be the next chief minister of Nagaland.
Jamir said that NDPP was more of a movement than a political party. “We believe in change, we believe that a government should not behave the way the present governments are behaving,” he said.
When asked about it by Eastern Mirror , Jamir replied that it was not only for the role of chief minister, but as a leader not only for the ‘movement’ but also for people of the state.
However, official confirmation from the party is awaited. (Inputs from Eastern Mirror News)
