Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed that a patient referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) from a private hospital in Dimapur has been tested positive for COVID-19.

According to information from several sources here, the patient had reportedly flown in to Dimapur from Kolkata on March 24 and after few days, developed symptoms for COVID-19. The patient was then admitted to a private hospital in Dimapur and later referred to GMCH for test. According to the sources, the sample tested positive on April 11 at GMCH. The Nagaland Post has reported.
Health minister S. Pangnyu Phom also rushed to the COVID Hospital Dimapur late Sunday night to take firsthand account of the report.
Unfortunately one person from Dimapur has tested positive of COVID-19 & is under treatment at GMCH at Guwahati. Anyone who came into contact with the person will be immediately quarantined,also certain locations will be sealed for general safety.

The Eastern Mirror reports: An early morning update from a reliable source in the government confirmed that the patient was from Marwari Patti area and so the locality was sealed off. The wholesale market in the area was also sealed off in the night itself. It was also informed that the nurses and doctors of Zion hospital who came into contact with the patient have been put under quarantine.
