The three medical associations of Nagaland are relentlessly working to ensure that justice is delivered to Dr. Mongshithung Murry who was beaten up by policemen on 17th April in Wokha.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Nagaland State Branch, Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB) and Nagaland Ayush Doctors Association (NADA), in a rejoinder to the statement of IGP Nagaland have pointed out that the state government seems to be working in favour of the culprits and trying to hush-up the matter at all levels.
The associations clarified that Dr. Murry and his family have not signed any agreement with any organization as claimed.
“The brutal acts of Nagaland police upon the doctors firstly on 3rd April, 2020 in Dimapur and again on 17th April in Wokha are beyond tolerance in a civilized world. The medical fraternity cannot and will not take the unfair treatment meted out to any of our members silently.” they stated.
“The association is also aware of the pressure exerted on Dr. Mongshithung and his family members to sign the settlement letter from some corners. We find no justification on the silence of the government of the day on these issues. We are waiting for the response of the state government as assured by the Home Commissioner to respond. If any individual or organization or authority further pressurizes the victim Doctor, the same shall be vocally dealt with by the Associations.” the three association wrote in the rejoinder.
The associations cautioned that if the state government fails to deliver a prompt and befitting action upon all the erring police personnel, regardless of rank or file, they will resort to the next course of action in a democratic manner for which the state government would be held solely responsible.
The associations asked all Dental surgeons, MBBS Doctors and AYUSH Doctors to be ready for any appropriate action plans to be followed.
