The health ministry has finalised the list of containment zones and divided the states and districts into different categories according to the coronavirus situation in these areas.
Consulting the state governments and the chief secretaries of the states, the health ministry has decided to put all metro cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, in the Red Zone. The Red Zone cities also include Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
The demarcation will help the government to finalise the lockdown exit plan following May 3.
All Nagaland districts fall under Green Zone.

A red zone, also referred to as the containment zone, will be an area where more than 15 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported. In this zone, no activity will be permitted, and it shall remain totally sealed for to and fro movement of people and vehicles.
An orange zone will be an area with less than 15 coronavirus cases, where no fresh cases have been reported. These zones will reportedly allow only a few restricted activities, such as minimal public transport and agriculture-based work.
Lastly, the green zone, i.e. the safe zone will be a region with zero positive coronavirus cases.
Both green and orange zones will allow some agricultural activities, albeit with the strict guideline of following social distancing. Moreover, in these two zones, the micro, small and medium enterprises will also resume their operations.
