The state government is planning to make COVID-19 testing payable.
The Nagaland government has decided to close down all free quarantine facilities in the state after a particular “cut-off” date is announced. The HPC also decided that all testings done after the cut-off date will be charged.
As per Nagaland Post, this was informed to the press after the HPC meeting here on Friday by the committee’s spokesperson and Information Technology, Science & Technology and Renewable Energy Resources adviser Mmhonlumo Kikon.
On March, the Indian Council of Medical Research had made a price cap of Rs 4,500 for the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test used to detect COVID-19. On May, the ICMR asked state governments to negotiate with private labs and fix up mutually agreeable prices.
Sikkim government has decided to charge Non-Sikkimese people returning to the state. They would have to pay Rs 3,500 for RT-PCR test and Rs 2000 for Truenat testing.
