Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio is likely to launch the Naga Peoples Front’s (NPF) election campaign in Manipur where NPF is contesting in 10 seats.
Talking to Northeast Live, NPF leader TR Zeliang said that since both his party and the Rio-led NDPP are running an opposition-less government in Nagaland, there are no issues if the Nagaland Chief Minister campaigns for the NPF candidates in Manipur.
Zeliang further said that Rio is free to campaign for the BJP in constituencies where the NPF is not contesting.
Rio has campaigned in Manipur before when he was chief minister in NPF led government. This time, the political dynamics are a little different with the launch of Rio’s party – the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) just before the last general elections in Nagaland.
Rio is expected to touch upon the Naga political issue in his election speeches as he has done during his previous election campaigns in Manipur.
