Near about a week after the results of the Nagaland Assembly Elections 2023 have been announced there is no clarity on who will be the Deputy Chief Minister – a position reserved for alliance partner BJP.
Various reports have surfaced indicating internal tussle in the state BJP leading to the delay. Nagaland Post reported that there are two contenders besides Y. Patton for the Dy. CM’s post.
Another issue is if the Home portfolio should be reserved for the Dy. CM.
However, these issues may have been settled after outgoing CM Neiphiu Rio of NDPP met union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda at New Delhi on Sunday.
As for now, the focus is on the swearing in ceremony to be held on 7 March which will be attended by the Prime Minister.
